WELCOME TO

The Garden School

OUR MISSION

Building the Future

The Garden School seeks to create an atmosphere that empowers children to learn through guidance and structured play.  The goal of the school is to be the model for early childhood education in Liberia.

ABOUT US

The Garden School

is located in Gbarnga, Bong County, Liberia and serves children ages 3-5.  Its safe and positive  environment, its  focus on developmentally appropriate practices ,and its use of local resources is unique in the West African nation.  It provides  a model education to Liberia’s youngest citizens.”

GROWING TOGETHER

The Whole Village

The Garden School educates adults, too.   Every child has a parent who volunteers in the classroom to help teachers and build community.  Workshops show parents  how they can continue learning and development at home.  Teachers  from other local schools come for training.  More distant educators can stay at the school while they observe. Garden School teachers spread its evidence-based practices to the community and country.

Opportunities to Give

The Garden School has been blessed already by people who have given generously of their time and treasure. The design of the school was donated.  The time of the board members is donated. The time of the teacher trainers is donated.  The design of this website is donated.

“Students at Oregon Episcopal School in Portland Oregon raised enough money to donate $12,000 to the school.  An anonymous benefactor donated $50,000.  Another person donated an even greater amount.

“Every person who donates time or education supplies or money to the Garden School can honestly say, after that, that the Garden School is “my school.”

This is what makes giving so enjoyable and so contagious.  We hope that you will find a way to give to the Garden School so it can become, in keeping with its vision, the model early childhood school in Liberia and West Africa.”
