How the School is Funded
With an annual operating budget of $40,000, the Garden School supports eight year-round staff members and provides food and education for 60 children.
-
Expenses: $30,000 for wages, $9,000 for food, and $1,000 for supplies. Zero utility costs thanks to our 2022 solar installation.
-
Income: Tuition covers only $2,400 of our costs.
-
The Gap: We rely on donors to provide the remaining $37,600 necessary to keep the school running.

Sustaining the Garden School
The Garden School continues to grow thanks to the generosity of those who give their time, talents, and resources. The land and design were donated, board members and teacher trainers volunteer their time. In addition, supporters ranging from students at Oregon Episcopal School who raised $12,000 to an anonymous donor who contributed $50,000 have all made a lasting impact. Every gift, whether of time, materials, or money, helps make The Garden School your school too. Together, we’re building a model for early childhood education in Liberia and across West Africa.
